19th Century Oil on Canvas Portrait of a Gentleman

A handsome chap, seemingly deep in thought.. likely wondering what to do this weekend. A very interesting 19th century oil on canvas portrait of a gentleman presumed to be an Anglican minister. There is a book with the title ''Porteus Semon'' lower left - Beilby Perteus was a Church of England reformer and a leading abolitionist in England. He was the first Anglican in a position of authority to seriously challenge the Church's position on slavery.
